Measure your dog for clothing, without relying on breed
Record chest, neck and back measurements, then use the exact garment’s chart.
Before you start
Choose a calm moment, a soft tape and a level surface. Let the dog stand naturally. Stop if handling causes distress; do not force a garment or measurement.
- 01
Measure the widest chest area
Wrap the soft tape around the widest part of the rib cage, usually just behind the front legs. Keep it level and comfortably in contact without squeezing. A string can be measured against a ruler afterwards.
- 02
Record the other required measurements
If the garment chart asks for them, measure neck circumference at its stated position and back length between its defined points. Record the method and units; do not substitute breed or weight for measurements.
- 03
Use the exact garment’s chart
Compare with the chart for that product and variant. Follow its guidance for ease and between-size measurements. A size recommendation for another brand or a harness is not transferable to this vest.
- 04
Check comfort under supervision
If trying on a suitable garment, watch for restricted movement, rubbing, breathing changes or distress. Remove it immediately if uncomfortable. Do not assume a pet garment is protective equipment.
Know the limits
- The external measuring source covers dogs; do not treat it as cat-specific fitting guidance.
- The sample vest lacks a verified complete measurement chart, so no size can be recommended from its option names alone.
- For skin problems or medical needs, seek veterinary advice rather than relying on a clothing guide.
