MEASURE & CHOOSE

Will it fit? Measure your bag and your essentials

Check usable space, the opening and your longest item before relying on a capacity label.

Before you start

Gather a flexible tape, the items you carry and the bag’s actual dimensions. Check whether a seller’s dimensions refer to the exterior or the usable interior.

  1. 01

    Measure the opening

Measure the usable width when the zip or fastening is open. A wide bag can still have a narrow opening. Compare it with the widest part of your laptop, folder or lunch box.

  2. 02

Measure usable height, width and depth

Measure inside the bag without stretching it. Note the narrowest sections, rounded corners, seams and internal pockets. For a flat tote, do not invent a depth that is not given.

  3. 03

Use volume only as a rough check

For a rectangular space, height × width × depth in centimetres ÷ 1,000 gives a rough litre estimate. It is not certified capacity, usable packing space or a weight limit.

  4. 04

    Check shape and closure together

Compare your actual item dimensions with the usable interior and opening. Check whether the zip can close without force. For a purchase, request missing measurements before ordering.

Know the limits

  • A label such as A4, medium or large does not replace actual measurements.
  • Do not infer a safe carrying load from volume or strap appearance.
  • The linked tote has a minimum order quantity; check the current product page before buying.
